Site Management Safety Training Scheme

5 DAY COURSE

Introduction

The SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) is a 5 day training course for anyone in the construction industry considering, or already holding construction site management responsibilities. This includes the planning, organising, monitoring and controlling of construction projects/workers.

The SMSTS covers most legislation relevant to safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries (see ‘Course Content’, below). It highlights the need for workplace risk assessments, the implementation of the necessary control measures and the importance of communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.

PCR Global offer both Remote (Virtual Classroom, delivered via Zoom) and Classroom courses.

All PCR Global SMSTS courses are delivered by our active Risk Management Consultants, meaning they may be facilitating a course one day, then on site the next, providing advice and guidance relating to live events. This is vital to our ethos, bringing our students the latest, most up-to-date information, scenarios, solutions etc. — all by Credible Tutors with current workplace experience.

This course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.

Course Objectives

Assessment

Certification

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a SMSTS refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.

To gain the Site Safety Plus certificate Delegates must attend the full 37.5 hours (5 Days) of training.

Please be aware that certificates may take up to 8 weeks to be processed and delivered from CITB. If you have recently completed a course you can evidence your qualification by viewing your up-to-date training record on the Online CITB Card Checker (click to visit).

Assessment

To obtain certification delegates must pass a 30 minute open-book exam consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions, selected by CITB.

The pass mark is 80% (20 out of 25).

Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site safety – The comprehensive guide (GE700) publication and the Construction site management delegate workbook (XA6) for the last 15 minutes of the exam.
