Introduction

CITB SSSTS Refresher (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme Refresher), also known by the industry as ‘SSSTS-R’, is a 1 day course. This refresher is for those who already hold and in-date SSSTS qualification.

The SSSTS Refresher condenses the content of the SSSTS from 2 days into 1, making it the preferred re-qualification method for almost all employers.

As with the 2 day SSSTS, this condensed version covers all relevant legislation effecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.

This course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.

Delegates must have previously completed the 2 day SSSTS and hold a valid and in date CITB SSSTS certificate. You will be required to email your certificate to our Training Team before attending the course.

PCR Global offer both Remote (Virtual Classroom, delivered via Zoom) and Classroom courses.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course you will be able to:

• Supervise health and safety onsite in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their role

• Develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare of workers on site

• Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly.

• Module 2 - Health and welfare 

• Module 3 - General safety

• Module 4 - High risk activities

• Module 5 - Environment

• Discuss the importance of Toolbox talks, including content, delivery, understanding and recording

• Assessment

Certification

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full SSSTS course will need to be retaken.

Delegates are required to complete the full course (7.5 hours).

Please be aware that certificates may take up to 8 weeks to be processed and delivered from CITB. If you have recently completed a course you can evidence your qualification by viewing your up-to-date training record on the Online CITB Card Checker (click to visit).

Assessment

To obtain certification students must pass a 30 minute exam consisting of 25 questions: (22 multiple-choice questions and and 3 short written questions), selected by CITB. There are four safety critical questions at the beginning of each paper that must be answered correctly.

The pass mark is 80% (24 out of 30).

Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site supervision (GE706) publication for the last ten minutes of the examination period.
